All equine entering Washington are required to have a certificate of veterinary inspection CVI and a negative coggins test within 12 months.

Equine moving to Washington permanently are required to enter with a 30 day CVI with a negative coggins test listed on the CVI.

Event horses moving between states can use a 6 month Extended Equine Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (EECVI) for travel in Washington. There must be a negative coggins test, within 12 months, listed on the CVI. If the coggins test expires before the CVI expires the CVI becomes invalid when the coggins expires.

Equine semen and embryos require an entry permit and must come from donors that have proof of vaccination or a negative antibody test for EVA during the current breeding season.

Stallions over the age of 6 months old that have tested positive for EVA are required to obtain an entry permit before entering the same. Permits can be obtained by calling 360-902-1878.
